First Day of Summer!

| Today is the first official day of summer! Of course, in Central Florida we’ve already had several days of high temperatures before summer officially arrives. To manage your energy consumption – and avoid an increase your utility bills – consider these tips from OUC:
· Try keeping your air conditioner at 78 degrees or higher. A thermostat set at 76 degrees will use up to 15 percent more energy to power your air conditioner than it would at 78 degrees. · Reduce energy consumption by repairing or replacing poor insulation, weather stripping and duct leaks, as well as dirty filters, evaporators and condenser coils. · It might be worthwhile to replace older, inefficient cooling and heating equipment. Not only are newer systems more energy efficient, there are quite a few federal, state and local rebate programs to make them more affordable.
