World Mosquito Day

Today is World Mosquito Day – no, it’s not a day to celebrate mosquitoes, rather it commemorates the day that relationship between mosquitoes and malaria was identified by British doctor Sir Ronald Ross in 1897. The goal of this special day is to raise awareness of malaria, as well as other diseases carried by mosquitoes including the Zika virus, and to educate people about how to avoid contact with mosquitoes.
