Today is Moon Day!

July 20, 2023 @ 12:00 am

Today is Moon Day, which celebrates the first time humans walked on the moon.  The Apollo Space Program, begun by President John F. Kennedy, was created to put the first man on the moon. Apollo 11, carrying astronauts Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, Jr., fulfilled President Kennedy’s dream. On July 20, 1969, the Lunar Module touched down on the surface of the moon. A few hours later, Armstrong set foot on the moon’s surface and gave the famous quote “That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.” Here are some ideas for teaching your kids about the moon: https://www.harpercollins.com/blogs/harperkids/phases-of-the-moon-how-to-teach-your-children-about-the-night-sky
